Validating Early Prototype for Inline COD Monitoring at Recolab
Spec-Imaging is currently conducting a six-week pilot campaign at RecoLab in Helsingborg to test and verify an early prototype of its inline spectrophotometer for chemical oxygen demand (COD) measurement.

The prototype, developed as part of a research and innovation project funded by Smarter Elektroniksystem through Vinnova, is being tested in a real industrial environment for the first time. The goal is to evaluate system performance under realistic process conditions and gather data to support further development and refinement.
At the core of the prototype is Spec-Imaging’s proprietary technology for spectrophotometric analysis directly in turbid liquids — enabling optical measurements even in complex and unfiltered wastewater environments where traditional methods struggle.
Throughout the campaign, Spec-Imaging is collecting operational data and using it to improve and test signal processing algorithms. The work is a key part of the broader validation and verification process ahead of future productification.
RecoLab’s testbed provides a unique opportunity for early-stage technologies to be challenged, validated, and further developed in close connection with municipal infrastructure and industrial needs.
Stay tuned for updates as Spec-Imaging advances its mission to deliver smarter, more sustainable water analysis.
